Food inspection/plant quarantine: 99 new standards approved
The reviewing meeting on industrial standards with regard to food inspection and plant quarantine has been convened in Beijing, December 8-12. The meeting was sponsored by the Certification and Accreditation Administration of China (CNCA) and the Chinese Academy of Inspection and Quarantine (CAIQ). At the meeting, 73 industrial standards on food inspection and quarantine and 26 on plant quarantine were reviewed and approved officially. These standards are formulated in the light of the new situation of China’s inspection and quarantine management, stipulations of the current laws and regulations, and the needs for improving the inspection and quarantine standards system. They will play an important part in ensuring import and export food safety, preventing the spread of severe plant diseases, and promoting trade with other countries. (Source: AQSIQ)
