China updates mandatory standard for gasoline for motor vehicles

In light of the State Council’s requirements for petrol quality upgrading and the Action Plan for Prevention and Treatment of Air Pollution, AQSIQ and SAC released GB 17930-2013, Gasoline for Motor Vehicles on December 18, 2013, to replace the preciously valid GB 17930-2011.

The new national standard, to be implemented from January 1, 2018, is developed to prevent air pollution and improve air quality by giving considerations to the domestic status quo of gasoline production, storage and use, the technical transformation of gasoline enterprises, and technical requirements of the emission reduction control. The leading indicators of the standard are fairly equal to the existing European standards, which meet the requirements of vehicle pollution emission in the fifth phrase and help reduce the emission pollutant of motor vehicles, to significantly contribute to environment protection and air quality improvement.
