National Standard General Specification for Pure Electrical Passenger Cars Released

Led by National Technical Committee of Auto Standardization organized by MIIT, national standard General Specification for Pure Electrical Passenger Cars (GB/T 28382-2012) was released on May 11th, 2012. This standard was developed jointly by manufacturers such as Tianjin QINGYUAN Co., Ltd, DONGFENG, CHERY, CHANGAN, GMAC-SAIC and universities including Tsinghua University and Tongji University, and approved by AQSIQ and SAC. This standard will be implemented on July 1st, 2012.

Profound experiments and deep studies had been conducted with a large quantity of data collected in the development of this standard. Voices from all walks of the society were also heard. This standard refers to the pure electrical vehicles which are driven by power battery and has less than 5 seats; it requires that the max speed of the car within 30 minutes cannot be less than 80 km/h, and the driving range with a cycle test beyond 80 km. In the meantime, technology indicators such as safety issues, mass distributing, accelerating performance, slope performance and reliability are also stipulated in the standard.

The release of national standard General Specification for Pure Electrical Passenger Cars will normalize R&D and manufacturing of electrical vehicles in China, promote the application of the electrical vehicle market, reinforce the management of electrical vehicles and advance the healthy development of the whole industry.
