DIN and SAC extend successful cooperation

DIN and the Chinese standardization organization, SAC (Standardization Administration of PR China) are extending their successful cooperation. Dr. Torsten Bahke, DIN Director, and Dr. Chen Gang, SAC Administrator, confirmed the continuation of their cooperation agreement with their signatures on 19 March 2012.

Besides the extension of the agreement, the visit of the Chinese delegation to Berlin was an opportunity for an exchange of views and information on international standardization. The subject of electromobility was especially high on the agenda.

At the Hannover Fair on Tuesday 24 April, the two cooperation partners, together with representatives of the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, are due to present strategies and innovations in the field of electromobility. This year, China is the partner country of the Fair, the theme of which will be "greentelligence", focussing on the development and integration of eco-friendly products and processes, and the use of green technologies.

In May the standards organizations will come together at the meeting of the Working Group on Standardization of the German-Chinese Joint Committee of Industry and Trade (GWA). The GWA is the foremost coordinating committee of the German Economics Ministry and the Chinese Ministry of Commerce.

The close cooperation between DIN and the Chinese standards organization is understood as a strategic partnership for the benefit of both economies and has a long tradition, the first agreement being signed in 1979. On the basis of this agreement DIN provided the Chinese standards organization with DIN Standards, thus making a major contribution towards furthering trade relations with China.
One of the fruits of the cooperation between DIN and SAC is the Germany-China Standards Information Portal, which provides interested parties in both countries with an overview of technical rules.
