Marquardt: nominated member of Management Board

Stronger focus on innovative topics for standardization

Rüdiger Marquardt, former Head of DIN's Innovation Division, has been nominated, in agreement with the DIN President, to be a member of the DIN Management Board as of 1 July 2011, standing at the side of DIN Director Dr. Torsten Bahke.

Heinz Gaub, previous Management Board member and Head of Standardization, has decided to leave DIN as of 30 June 2011 in order to face new professional challenges.

DIN President Prof. Dr. Klaus Homann welcomed Marquardt's appointment, saying that "as Head of the Innovation Division Rüdiger Marquardt was above all a driver behind the development of new areas for standardization. In order for DIN to remain a driving force in standardization in Europe and the world, and for DIN to build on its leading role in standardization, it is essential that the measures laid down in the German Standardization Strategy be implemented. To do this, DIN will have to address innovative topics, making them its own. Thanks to his extensive experience in this area Rüdiger Marquardt will be able to provide the right impetus.“

Rüdiger Marquardt has been active in the DIN Group for nearly 27 years. From 2000 to 2003 he was Managing Director of Beuth Verlag, after which he took on the responsibility for standards management at DIN. He was instrumental in shaping DIN's current organizational structure, which was a prerequisite for DIN's new orientation as a flexible service provider. In May 2007 Marquardt became the Head of DIN's Innovation Division, in which capacity he functioned as the contact partner for all questions dealing with innovative topics. A central aspect of Marquardt's work is his cooperation with numerous organizations, Federal Ministries such as the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi), national, European and international associations, several universities, and with SMEs in his function as Head of the Commission for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (KOMMIT).
